This collection of poems speaks of rebirth, reincarnation, and lessons from the past as a means to a better future. For the author, this is through a past life discovered in a very vivid dream that had both awed and confused her.Within this dream, the author was visited by a strong, courageous woman-a samurai-who showed her how to listen to her past, learn from her mistakes, and inherit the future she deserves. The Onna-bugeisha (female martial artist) were female samurai. They were a type of female warrior who mostly belonged to the Japanese nobility. On a snowy February day in 2011, 62-year-old Cindy Sweet receives a Facebook message from a dead man - Warrant Officer Ryan Quinlan, who supposedly died in Vietnam 40 years earlier. He'd been Cindy's fiancé before an RPG took out his Dustoff chopper, killing all aboard. Cindy, a young combat nurse at the 24th Evacuation Hospital at Long Binh, had been devastated by her loss but, with no other choice, had served out her year in Vietnam - and even found love again. Incense & Peppermints is a novel about patriotism, loyalty, enduring love, unimaginable courage, and devastating loss. It's the story of one woman's year in a war zone during the most unpopular war in US history. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Angie Hickman. Wake Up Call: A Call to Arms for the Sleeping G...

In February of 2015, God put a call on my life to get out from in front of the TV and start using my gifts to reach people for him. The words from Matthew 28:19 kept running through my head, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." I wanted to reach as many people as possible so I started a group on Facebook. I thought for a moment what I should call it, and then it hit me. The sleeping giant called the church has become lazy, much like I was, and it was time for a much needed wake up call. There are people all around us every day that are going to hell just because we won't open our mouths and proclaim the name of the Lord because we may offend someone. I started writing whatever God put on my heart to share with the world almost every day. This is a collection of those posts from February 2015-November 2015, and then I finish off the book with my own crazy testimony. I hope you enjoy. 1. Language: English. In 2008, a small band of political activists in Egypt led by a young engineer named Ahmed Maher began organizing on Facebook under the moniker April 6 Youth. Dodging the secret police both online and off, they built a Web page into a movement. Then, in January 2011, they helped architect a final showdown with the country's dictator. David Wolman unspools the riveting behind-the-scenes story of these daring activists and how they planted the digital seeds of a revolution. Award-winning journalist and author David Wolman is a contributing editor at Wired, a former Fulbright journalism fellow and a winner of the 2011 Oregon Arts Commission individual artists fellowship. He is the author of two works of nonfiction. His third book, The End of Money, will be published in February. 1. Language: English. Narrator: David Wolman. On January 19th, 2010, 22-year-old Alexandra Tobias was playing Farmville on Facebook at home in Jacksonville, Florida, when she was interrupted by the cries of her three-month-old baby, Dylan. She tried to silence him by shaking him roughly - hitting his head in the process. The child fell unconscious, and she placed a frantic call to 911. The child would be taken to the hospital, where he would die the next day. Alexandra would be arrested for second-degree murder. Just over a year later, on February 1st, 2011, Tobias was sentenced to 50 years in prison. "He who is the most defenseless among us was murdered by his own mommy. And why? Because he was crying during a game of Fishville or Farmville or whatever was going on during Facebooking time that day," the presiding Judge Adrian G. Soud said. In the time between the crime and the sentencing , news organizations across America picked up the story. Why would Alexandra kill her baby? 1. Language: English. Narrator: sangita chauhan. New York Times Bestseller A startlingly original debut from the actor, writer, director, and executive producer hailed as "a gifted observer of the human condition and a very funny writer capable of winning that rare thing: unselfconscious, insuppressible laughter" (The Washington Post). A boy wins a $100,000 prize in a box of Frosted Flakes-only to discover that claiming the winnings might unravel his family. A woman sets out to seduce motivational speaker Tony Robbins-turning for help to the famed motivator himself. A new arrival in Heaven, overwhelmed with options, procrastinates over a long-ago promise to visit his grandmother. We meet Sophia, the first artificially intelligent being capable of love, who falls for a man who might not be ready for it himself; a vengeance-minded hare, obsessed with scoring a rematch against the tortoise who ruined his life; and post-college friends who try to figure out how to host an intervention in the era of Facebook. Along the way, we learn why wearing a red T-shirt every day is the key to finding love, how February got its name, and why the stock market is sometimes just . . . down. Finding inspiration in questions from the nature of perfection to the icing on carrot cake, One More Thing has at its heart the most human of phenomena: love, fear, hope, ambition, and the inner stirring for the one elusive element just that might make a person complete. Across a dazzling range of subjects, themes, tones, and narrative voices, the many pieces in this collection are like nothing else, but they have one thing in common: they share the playful humor, deep heart, sharp eye, inquisitive mind, and altogether electrifying spirit of a writer with a fierce devotion to the entertainment of the reader.
